Los Soto 40, reconocidos como clase internacional por la ISAF

Sólo dos años después de su lanzamiento en Argentina, los Soto 40 han sido reconocidos oficialmente como clase internacional por parte de la ISAF, la Federación Internacional de Vela. El anuncio tuvo lugar en la conferencia anual que la institución celebró del 3 al 13 de noviembre en San Juan (Puerto Rico).

Tras un prometedor début en el Circuito Audi MedCup 2011, se espera que la clase Soto 40 crezca considerablemente de cara a 2012, temporada para la que se ha confirmado ya la construcción de varios barcos.

Mientras que el casco número 33 está a punto de salir del astillero, barcos con bandera de Chile, Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, Japón, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra y España se encuentran ya compitiendo.

Nacho Postigo, director técnico del Circuito Audi MedCup, ha declarado que “un reconocimiento tan significativo de la ISAF avala el rápido crecimiento y el carácter internacional de los Soto 40, confirmando que la apuesta del Circuito Audi MedCup por este tipo de barcos es acertada”. Además, Postigo pronostica “un futuro brillante en Europa y a nivel mundial para una clase de formato One-Design que se concibió para competir a nivel local en Sudamérica”.
